Text Animation: First Run

Phew! First week of Digital Media Production II is over, but not quite the homework part. The lesson for this week is borrowed from Apple’s early iPod commercials in which solid block characters dance in front of bright backgrounds. We learned how to open raw green screen video in After Effects and edit it to drop out the background and colorize certain characters. We then took it a step further and imported it into Maya in order to add 3D text. All-in-all, it was an extremely successful class period, especially since it was my first time playing around in Adobe’s After Effects. All that is left to do is the render passes in Maya and compositing in AE! Video will be posted later to this blog as well as to  http://.vap214.aisites.com.

TA DA! In the movie and maya binary file below, you can see the above techniques applied into a text based animation. Enjoy!

Until later!

Edit: So, the website is a no go at this point. The school’s AiServers are being incredibly unreliable and just plain impossible right now. Instead, in order to post hw and movie samples of my work, I will be going through mediafire.com. Thank you
